Cambrian Geophysical Chief Geologist, Dr. Gehua Han, has led a team to the southwestern Chad and worked on site for an oil exploration project in the Doba basin.
The Doba basin is part of the Central African Rift system, and substantial oil resources were confirmed in the region in 1993. Nowadays, the Doba basin comprises eight oil fields: Moundouli, Miandoum, Nya, Maikeri, Bolobo, Komé, Timbre, and Badila.
The exploration target is the Cretaceous clastic reservoirs, at a depth of approximately 3000 m, which presents a major challenge in petroleum geology.
